1963 Chevy II Nova 292 Conversion

12.16.10 - 12.31.10 ~ More wiring, throttle brackets modifications, tv cable bracket fabrication
Nova Grill Headlights bumper removal
  • Wiring
    • wiring for fuel pump and gauges done execept for sending units
  • Throttle Bracket
    • material removed from arem and throttle rod bent - now clears headers
  • TV cable
    • custom bracket fabricated. Secondary bracket fabricated to attach cable to offenhauser 'T'
  • Parts search
    • purchased correct upper radiator hose (Dayco 70443)
    • still searching for correct PCV valve/grommet combo

10.24.10 - 12.5.10 ~ More wiring and shift linkage setup

  • Wiring
    • ran wiring for fuel pump
    • made jumpers for fuse blocks
    • made wiring harness to attach gauges to fuse block
  • Shift Linkage
    • figured out length and setup for shift linkage
    • install shift indicator
  • TV cable
    • custom bracket will need to be fabricated
  • Throttle Linkage
    • figured out rear header interferes with throttle arm. Throttle arm will be modified.

08.16.10 - 09.04.10 ~ Gauges, wiring, and engine install

    • researched, purchased, modified (angled brackets), and mounted gauges
  • Trunk
    • clear-coated
  • Parking brake handle
    • purchased and installed
  • Fuel pump and gauge wiring
    • fuse blocks and wiring purchased
  • Flexplate & dowel pins issue
    • New flexplate purchased, modified (dowel pin holes drilled, flexplate bolt holes enlarged), and installed
    • Dowel pins shortened (hitting torque converter)
  • Engine and Transmission Installed
  • Mocked up Radiator Overflow mounting

07.25.10 - 08.15.10 ~ Heaterbox, trunk, and fan cleanup & refinishing

  • Heater
    • disassembled and flushed out heater core
    • rust removed (evapo-rust) and sprayed with rust converter
    • repainted and new gaskets and heater blower resistor installed
  • Fan
    • rust removed (white vinegar) and sprayed with rust converter
    • repainted
  • Trunk - prepped and painted with splatter paint
  • Purchased
    • Heater Box Seal Kit
    • Heater Hose Clamps
    • Caulking sealer
    • 700R4 shift Indicator lens
    • Recirculating radiator overflow
    • Gauges - tach, water temp, transmission temp, & oil pressure

    • transmission cooler lines (braided stainless) & AN fittings

  • Researched 292 - 700r4 - starter compatibility issues
