• research HEI wiring installation

• figured out routing/securing of engine wiring harness
• modified engine harness for HEI

• integrated engine harness and gauge harness

• started re-thinking wiring routing - proximity to headers.
• taped 3 wire alternator connections into light harness - covered with powerbraid

• installed radiator overflow

• checked routing of wiring through firewall into cab, out to engine bay behind head
• decided to re-route engine wiring harness through cab:
1. removed stereo and heater for easier access
2. existing hole enlarged in transmission tunnel/behind head
3. figured out how to secure wires with new routing
4. newly routed wires covered with powerbraid/asphalt wiring loom

• figured out how to strengthen throttle bracket

• reinstalled intake, carb spacers, for mock-up purposes

• created 'wedge' to strengthen throttle assembly

• purchased horn relay, more wire, search for t-housing gasket (no luck)

• touch up paint - heater

• prep and paint - horn relay, coil bracket

• added screw to bottom of heater for easier removal
• added another shim (3 total) to starter

• reinstalled throttle assembly to check clearance before welding in wedge

• welded nut to throttle assembly - make installation easier

• trannsmission dust shield: modified for starter clearance, prepped and painted

• throttle assembly mods: reinstalled thottle assembly with wedge taped in for testing, changed bends in throttle rod, getting about 95% WOT now

• ordered t-housing gaskets, carb mounting studs, thermo shield for wiring

• horns: prep & paint

• Wiring - back pulled, removed power braid, added heat shield to wiring behind head, power braid reinstalled

• hooked up TV cable - appears to be working correctly

• purchased: misc hardware, poly-armour for distributor vacuum

• made template for distributor vacuum line

• worked on routing of wiring below passenger motor mount and up to distributor : need to pull more wiring into engine bay

• installed horn relay

• worked on cleaning up/securing light harness

• installed radiator - checked overflow hose length and routing

• terminated & powerbraided 1-wire alternator wire

• prepped & painted - radiator (front)

• bent and cut dist vacuum line

• prepped & painted - radiator (top), vacuum line

• worked on under dash wiring

• temporarily installed dist, coil, plug wires

• tried to install trans dipstick - stock unit will not work

• prepped & painted - radiator (front), starter solenoid

• throttle linkage - mods to throttle arm assembly(strengthen), figured out binding/drag issue with offy setup

• double-check trans line before cutting to length

• hose end for passenger side cooler line

• painted radiator (top)

• purchased new cable sheath, cable for throttle

• cut existing cable sheath used with new cable - much less drag/binding

• made chassis to engine ground cable

• removed firewall insulation pad- found better way to secure it

• added additional heat/sound insulation to firewall

• increased hole size in tranny tunnel for engine harness

• 'finalized' routing of engine harness

• experimented with different throttle return springs and brackets

• installed tranny dipstick (dropped pan, found mounting spot)

• removed tranny cooler lines, put on hose ends

• temporarily installed front header double tocheck clearance

• removed front seat for underdash access

• worked on TV cable setup

• removed carpet --thoroughly cleaned carpet and floorboards

• added additional sound deadening to passenger side floor boards

• installed distributor and coil, started planning the securing/routing of plug wires

• started planning way to add terminal block and 2nd relay

• had severals things double checked - distributor play, finding tdc, hei wiring, etc

• replaced several wires with larger gauge (alternator to battery, starter solenoid to terminal block)
• made new mounting plate for 2 fuse blocks, 2 terminal blocks and 1 relay

• tested option 1 for spark plug loom

• worked on mounting plate for fuel relay

• tested option 2 for spark plug wire looms

• cleaned up and painted transmission pan

• continued work on wiring

• re-installed firewall pad - removed heater, added peel and seal

• removed throttle linkage for cleanup/painting

• looked for alternative ways to modify mount for radio, fuses, terminal blocks, and relays

  • finished running wires and tested fuel pump wiring (dedicated relay in trunk)

• drilled spark plug wiring loom to accept screws •tidied up and finalized wiring to fuel pump

• re-routed lines for rear speakers, away from power to fuel pump
